in a little bit later. but we are nice and dry right now. now here's the wet weather i'm talking about. we can see it on the satellite and radar across the mid roll of the nation making its way to the east. we will see some wet weather some showers some thunderstorms possible as we go into evening time frame. so definitely be prepared for that. as we check out what's going on happening this morning, you're stepping out the door, well temperatures are going to be cool in some spots. and even mild in other spots. we can see d.c. right now coming in at 55 degrees. easton at 50 and baltimore at 46. let's hone in zoom into some closer areas and aberdeen's temperature coming in right around 49-degree right now. it's cool, but it's not as cold as it was yesterday. so what i mean is, take the jacket with you as you head out the door this morning. actually put it on. 50-degrees in monrovia right now and the last stop will be canton springs with the temperature at 52 degrees, also talking about patchy fog out there morning n morning as well. -- this morning as well. but lunchtime today we will have increasing clouds with the high at 70 but by lunchtime

we'll be at 66. let's get a check now of the abc2 timesaver traffic with lauren cook. good morning. good morning lynette. well, in addition to the fog that you are talking about we have very serious crash in northern baltimore county. it has shut down the southbound lanes of 83 between freeland road and old york road. now abc2 news paul jaffey is on the scene. he sent us these pictures, this accident happened just before 4:00 24 morning and it involved -- this morning and it involved three drafts. three people -- tractor- trailers. three people have been critically injured. so you will want to use york road instead. if you are heading out to 95 this is what it looks like at eastern avenue checking and taking a live look. just normal 15 minute ride right now from white marsh into the city. here's harford road everything up to speed. just 11 minutes right now on the outer loop from 95 all the way up to 83. the west side nice and clear. but it's starting to build. you're locking at a 12 minute ride on the outer loop from 795 down towards 95. that's a look at your abc2

timesaver traffic. charlie over to you. you expect them to be safe this morning. now one county district says it's going to make some big changes to make sure your kids can be safe every day. abc2 news linda so is live this morning in perry hall high school and linda, what is this new policy they're putting in place? >> reporter: well, starting today every school resource officer in baltimore county will have access to a hand held metal detacting wand. in response to recent school violence. you'll remember the shooting that happened here on the first day roll school when a student -- of school when a student brought a gun to school and shot another student. they won't be used for random searches, only if they have reasonable suspicion that someone in the school has a weapon. the police chief says it's part of the solution to keeping kids safe in school. recent instances prompted this change. of course the shooting here at perry hall high. another scare at stemmers run middle school. and then just this week, a bb gun was found at owings mills

high. parents seem to be on board with the new policy. >> i think it's a good idea. kids should be able to be safe. >> we do need to be extra vigilant and do what we need to do to make sure we protect the children and n school and make it -- in school and make a safe environment for them. >> reporter: so when your kids go to school this morning, this new policy will be in effect. school resource officers will have metal detecting wands and they'll use them if they think a student has a weapon. we're live in perry hall, linda so, abc2 news. the tragedy is still hard to come to grips with. imagine the pain of losing five family members at once. well, today loved ones will gather to say their final good- byes to a grandmother and her four grandchildren killed in a fire last week in northeast baltimore. the memorial service begins at 10:00 this morning at mount pleasant church. funeral services will immediately follow. delaney valley memorial gardens donated five plots to help out the family. 19 people have now died in

the meningitis outbreak. maryland has one confirmed death and 16 reports cased. nationwide 247 people have become sick. the rare form of meningitis is now being traced back to shots for back pain. the government is investigating that massachusetts pharmacy that made the steroid injections. well, the man who wants to be baltimore's top cop is expected to be confirmed come monday. yesterday evening anthony batts answered questions from city council members and also listened to concern from the public. they expressed concerns about community policing, foot patrols and strained relations with officers and neighbors within the community. the commissioner designate says he is prepared. >> we will work diligently to earn your trust. we will be professional, we will be courteous, and we will treat people with respect and expect the same in return. >> batts was a former police chief in long beach, california as well as in oakland. well, lawsuits now in the

severe weather rolled through parking lots of western -- parts of western tennessee last night. take a look at this. strong thunderstorms brought with it heavy rain, wind and lightning. this just outside of memphis. there was damage now caused fallen trees on home. however no word of injuries

just yet. and you know lynette you were talking about the storm stretching up to the great lakes region from louisiana. this is basically bisecting the country. >> actually you were just talking about louisiana? a nasty little thunderstorm right now across the area. this is stretching back into mississippi and also alabama getting in some severe weather as well. and this is just extending further to the north and this is tracking off towards the east. so we are going to get in on some of that wet weather. some thunderstorms as we go into the overnight early tomorrow morning as well. but for right now, you're stepping outdoor wondering if you need the rain gear? not necessarily. if you're going to be out all day take the rain gear with you. but back home by 3:00, 4:00 you should be in the clear. we're dealing with mainly close as of now and -- clear skies as of now and with that we have a southerly flow as well and that's helping to warm temperature thes up a bit this morning. 52 degrees in stevenson right now and 54 glen burnie. good morning annapolis at 56 degrees and 50 in mount airy. over to the eastern shore, where we're looking at 51 in

centreville. cambridge, galena coming in at 49 degrees. so high pressure off into the atlantic for today. and we can see that cold front is on the march. ahead of it those -- that loin of showers and thunderstorms bringing in some very gusty winds. damaging winds across much of the nation. yesterday it started. it's just moving its way forward towards us. as we go through time. so speaking of going through time let's go -- let's do it because we can see the wet weather moving in here as we go into 7:00 and beyond. and after that, that's when we'll tartest see some -- tart to see some more showers and showers for form morning. the commute tomorrow morning is going to be on the rough side most likely but we'll be here and walk you through the day. high pressure will women in behind that just in time for the weekend. 66 degrees those temperatures for a high at lunchtime. at 70 degrees that coming in above average. by the weekend, we are looking at cooler drier air. the komen race is going to start on a chilly note.

like it did last year. but we will stay dry. not bad at all. let's get a check now of the abc2 timesaver traffic with lauren cook. good morning. good morning lynette. well, we are dealing with several accidents, big trouble right now on 83. where the southbound lanes are shut down between freeland road and old york road. here's a live picture -- actually a picture from the scene of the crash that happened just before 4:00 this morning. three tractor-trailers are involved. two of which hit head-on. three people have been critically injured and 83 south will be shut down through the morning rush. use york road instead. we have more problems on 695, here's a live look in parkville right now, where we have a crash on the inner loop at harford road. do expect half delays as you travel down to 95. this is what the beltway looks like over the west side at liberty road. a 13 minute right now on the outer loop from 795 down to 95. that's a lock at your abc2 timesaver traffic. char low over to you. news time now is 6:12. and hearing the diagnosis of

breast cancer is a life- altering event. this morning kelly swoope tells us about two women on a mission supporting survivors. >> let's go in the back and i'm going to help you. >> reporter: help is exactly what breast cancer survivors like judy are looking for when they turn to bare necessities. in addition to fancy bras and lingerie, lynn and her sister also sell prosthetic breasts and specially made bras for survivors. >> you know you come in, you're not feeling your best and some of these women are going through chemo and radiation. and they just want to get back to their normal lives. they want to get back to work, they want to get back to looking good. >> reporter: judy is living proof. she was diagnosed six years ago. >> need a place that will help you find what you're looking for because you don't know what you're looking for. >> reporter: past the critical five year survivor mark, judy knows in addition to a good bra you need a listening ear. she works with the programs survivors offering support on the eastern shore. >> i have a men tee right now.

and she is in a nearby town and we're not like in the same town. but i'm on the phone to her often. she calls me if she just wants to talk. as she goes through each stage of the treatment process i can tell her what to expect next. >> reporter: it's near and dear to lynn and her family. her mother judy lost the battle with breast cancer six and a half years ago. fighting the disease is something she's done for more than 20 years. >> you'd love to be able to have a cure in our lifetime. >> reporter: judy also hopes for a cure one day soon. until then she's doing what she can to help others and celebrating her personal victory along the way. >> i was in a shop and i saw -- i felt like a girl and one. and i thought that's a shirt for me. >> and that was abc2 news kelly swoope with the report. joining us now the brittany fowler. we're going to be out there all

morning. what can patrons expect when they come out? >> we're hoping for beautiful weather which i think we will get. hopefully. as lynette was saying wear a jacket but it's going to be a wonderful day. we always have the parade of survivors going off around 6:40 a.m. and it's one of the most emotional portions of the morning. you get to see all of them go through the village and then they end on blotchers and take a -- bleachers and take a photo. >> you know every time we come out for one of the events we see the finished product. we're out there for the course sunday morning. you guys are in the home stretch right now at komen maryland. what are some the things you are working on right now? >> right now we're going doing some of -- doing some of the final planning things. we have the registration in hunt valley and that's open from noon to 7:00 p.m. during the weeks. and then on saturday it's open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. really just trying to get the final registrations in there. >> some of the scenes we're seeing of last year's race here, a beautiful sunrise

event. a lot of walkers and runners. men and women supporting this is something where men can come out. you encourage men to come out in support of this. >> we do, we encourage everybody. we have a kids for the cure registration option as well so people can bring out the entire families and really rally around a loved one they know who's been affected by breast cancer. >> toward fundraising for breast cancer research, susan g. komen has seen the numbers down. what can people do if they want to come in? you're taking walk up rexes this year. -- registrations this year. >> as far as fundraising numbers down about 45% and we're making one last appeal to the community because these 75% of the funds stay local. going to grant programs throughout the state. so it's really the money is staying in maryland and we're trying to help maryland women. >> expand on that really quickly. i give you my money, where does it go? how do we see it realized? you said a word there i think is important. it remains local.

>> correct. last year komen maryland grant funded $2.2 million to 26 programs throughout the state. and those go to provide screenings, mammograms, meals for women and their children, so that they don't have to worry about cooking. we really go across the spectrum and provide services for screening and treatment all the way through survivorship and helping women get back to normal lives after their diagnosis. >> and it doesn't just stop there with hunt valley. another susan g. komen race for the cure for the eastern shore. >> we actually have an ocean city race for the cure on sunday, april 21st, 2013. >> all right. brittany fowler with susan g. komen sew you out there sunday morning. time to move on now on "good morning maryland." if you know a rabid sports fan you know how creative they can be with sports memorabilia. up next, we're going to tell you what one fan paid to get his hand on one sports legend's special sauce. >> and right now, a live picture at abbey road in london and as we go to break today for you on "good morning maryland," is preview of what you can

as a pastor, my support for question 6 is rooted in my belief that the government should treat everyone equally. i would not want someone denying my rights based upon their religious views, therefore i should not deny others based upon mine. it's about fairness. this law does not force any church to perform a same sex marriage if it's against their beliefs. and that's what this is about. protecting religious freedom and protecting all marylanders equally under the law. join me in voting for question 6. news time now is 6:2 #. and

come gather around the television everyone because this will likely be the story you're talking about for the rest of the day. you know sometimes the mood strikes you. but most of us have the sense to wait until we get home. got to have a little loving from time to time but this was not the case for one florida couple. they're accused of having sex on a restaurant table in full view of parents and their kids. families they were eating on a patio as the couple began making out and things went from hot and heavy to butt naked. >> that's ridiculous they would do that out in the public. and then also in front of kids. >> that's totally -- unacceptable. and insane. i just -- i can't believe -- i'm shocked. i can't believe that. >> strike up the marvin gaye, it's family night. all right, as soon as that manager realized what was going on, he did what all good managers do. he asked them to stop. now police were then called in and arrested them for fighting with the manager as he broke up the mod. but they were arrested and

"good morning maryland," i'm charlie crowson. megan is off today. but someone who is in house with us checking the forecast and keeping you up-to-date is meteorologist lynette charles. and lynette, there's beg storm right now cutting across the country. >> it is. it's -- ahead of a cold front that's going to be slicing through the area charlie. and with that, we are going to get in on some of the showers and storms. mainly this evening overnight into tomorrow morning. so right now, as everybody is stepping out the door this morning, you can leave the rain gear. the only caveat is if you're not going to be able to get back by maybe 6:00, 7:00 take the rain gear with you. just put the umbrella in the car. maryland's most powerful radar is dry right now with changes to come but temperature-wise we're at 47 degrees in arbutus. yes you need the jacket. might not need the heaviest coat this morning but still we are feeling the cool weather out there. columbia's temperature at 49 degrees and davidsonville at 52. the winds will be picking up throughout the day as well. and we're also deg
